Anya Hindmarch - "I'm not a plastic bag"
London based Anya Hindmarch is best known for her exquisite handbags. Just recently in 2007 she came out with "I'm not a plastic bag" - a tote that every eco friendly fashionista had to carry and priced under $50 it soon became a steal. In 2007 Whole food's decided they were going to carry the bag with limited supplies and fashionista's were lined down the street in the pouring rain to obtain such a bag.
I remember the day because I too was going to wake up at the crack of dawn and hustle over to the market before it opened with a model friend. Both of us being slaves to our vanity passed up the amazing opportunity because of the torrential downpour.
Although the opportunity came a went with the ever changing fashion industry, I recommend you keep a close eye on this designer for future promotions.
It is inspiring that a designer of such success would be environmentally conscious. All fashionistas can certainly learn from her example.
I recommend every woman carry a tote instead of using plastic bags. They can be found at almost any grocery store and are of course fashionably chic (and cheap).
