Top Holiday Gift Picks 2008

Holiday Gift Idea's for Every Budget

Stumped on what to get this holiday season?  Everyone wants to give a "good" gift but often times find themselves clueless.

Children are easy to get gifts for up to the ages of 11 or 12 years old.  Toy's or video games are the best bet.

But what do you get everyone else?  Here is my list of best gifts for EVERY budget.

1.  Cashmere Sweaters

For men and women Cashmere sweaters are always a hit.  It is a sophisticated gift and I wouldn't suggest getting one for anyone under 23 years of age because it's most likely they wont appreciate or have time to care for the sweater.  Stick to the three basic colors black, off white/cream or gray when buying cashmere as a gift.  You can find cashmere in all different price points ranging from $50 to over $200, depending on the quality and warmth.

2. Jewelry

All women of all age ranges can NEVER have enough jewelry.  My favorite local Fairfield County jewelry designer is Alexandra Daly.  She creates classic pieces with an edge.  If shopping in Manhattan I suggest buying Alexis Bittar jewelry.  It's at a higher price point but the jewelry is wildly popular and definely a collectors piece.  When shopping for young girls stick to sliver toned jewelry, in my experience the majority have not yet taken to gold.  Gold tone's reflect a more mature taste.  Birthstone's and anything with a "peace" symbol are popular among high school girls this year.

3.  Men's Wallet's

Louis Vuitton wallets are a timeless gift for any man.  In brown or black the price point ranges from $200 to $400 depending on size.  I would stay away from the monogram because some men may shy from it.  Some feel it's too girly.

4.  Victoria's Secret

They always have amazing gifts.  I suggest anything from their "Pink" line for girls and young women ages 13 to 25 years.  They make great sweatpants and cozy t-shirts to lounge around in.  If you are looking for something cheaper they always have delishious smelling gift boxes filled with sprays and lotions for under $20.

5.  IPod Shuffle

This Ipod comes in many different funky colors and can hold up to 250 songs.  It's tiny and can be clipped to anything.  I'm a believer in never having too many Ipod's because I am constantly losing or breaking them.  Get them a funky color to add a little spice to your gift.  For $75 or under they are a steal.

6.  Hunter Rain Boots

These are amazing and add style to those awful rainy day's.  Buy the tall one's in black.  You can find them at Nordstrom for $115.  You can add wellie socks as an added stocking stuffer.

7.  Tiffany's

You can find something for everyone at Tiffany's.  I suggest money clips for men ($115) or a heart charm necklace for women (ranging from $100 to $150).

8.  Prada Key chain

Prada bear key chains are such a great gift idea for women.  They are a fashion staple and the key chains are so adorable.  Prices are around $120 but can be found for $75 on line.

9.  Rugby

Young men and women of Fairfield County love anything from Rugby.  The store can be found on Greenwich Ave or on-line at Rugby.com.  They carry amazing trendy clothes.  If your stumped on what to pick for your loved one, I suggest a gift card from the store.

10.  Handbags/Brief Cases

I will do a separate blog on gift handbags for many different price point's.  It has such a range that it needs it's own blog to cover everything.  For both men and women it's a necessity and always a wonderful gift idea.

They key to great gifts are giving people heart felt necessities that can be used for years to come.  Hope these suggestions will help this holiday season.  Enjoy!
