Spring Cleaning Checklist
2009 Spring Cleaning Checklist

Get out those boxes or bin's out of storage or the basement/garage of spring summer clothes, dust them off and get ready for spring cleaning.
1. Go through your closet and take out winter clothes (sweaters, cords, wool coats and heavy boots) set them aside to create space.
2. Organize neatly the articles of clothing you plan on keeping throughout the spring/summer (jeans, tanks, tee's and other layering pieces) and create space for your old spring/summer apparel.
Quick tip- to create easy access to all your clothes a closet is so much happier and healthier when you place all your hangers in one direction facing you...seems tedious but it really improves the look and access to your clothes.
3. Once everything you plan to keep is organized then you can confidently open the spring summer bin's and start separating them into categories (to be hung up, folded or given to a charity)
Quick tip- if this article of clothing hasn't been worn in over a year or two it is most likely it will never be worn and the odds that it's going to make a fashion comeback anytime soon or look better on you "this" year are slim so why not give it to charity. It will get a lot more use and the world essentially will be a better place.
4. If you have time and patience I suggest you iron or steam what needs it before you hang it up. Don't bother ironing anything that you are folding because it is going to get wrinkled any way....obviously.
5. Place all of your neatly folded winter clothes and put them into the bin's to be stored away.
6. Go through your outfits and create styles, pairing jeans with shirts, skirts with tops and add in what shoe's may look nice with each outfit.
7. If you stumble across an article of clothing you love and doesn't have a partner i.e a fabulous skirt that doesn't have a cute top to go with it or shoes to complete the outfit (what I call the sad and lonely clothing syndrome) make a list of what it needs. WRITE IT DOWN! Put the list in your purse so you have it handy when shopping. Like a grocery list for your clothes.
8. Write down anything extra you may need and don't already have. If you have an event coming up and need a dress now is the time to jot it down.
9. FUN PART! Go shopping! Check off what you need and bought from your list and voilĂ your spring/summer wardrobe is complete and you didn't have to spend a fortune. No un-necessary clothes were bought and your ready for a fabulous spring/summer.
10. Last but not least and most important....bring your clothes for donation to your favorite charity. Don't forget and just leave them sitting there and please don't throw clothes away. It does make a difference.
