How to Dress when going out for a Drink

My boyfriend and I went out to dinner in downtown Stamford this weekend.  After we ate, we decided to trek across the street to Butterfield Eight for a drink.  Butterfield Eight is a new restaurant/lounge that just opened up about a month ago.  We had been there once the week they opened for dinner and left early because the food was horrendous.  In typical fashion we decided to go there once again, not for food but to give their drinks a whirl.
It was around 9pm and there were more bouncers in black suits than actual patrons in the bar area.  The decor was a cheap effort to make the place look upscale and they had more flat screen TV's than any sports bar I had ever been to.  Happy to find a seat at the bar we ordered a beer for my boyfriend and a Manhattan for myself.
Slowly we watched the riff raff pour in.  We must have walked in when there was a shift change because suddenly four more raven haired vixen bartenders jumped behind the bar.  All of which were certainly from Westchester, a dead giveaway being dark blue/black straight ironed hair,  overly tanned skin and the inability to crack a smile.
One of the waitresses actually wore knee high black stiletto boots with way too many metal buckles, booty shorts and a tank top.  But thats not what made me notice her,  it was her loud boast of friendliness and hugs to everyone around her, certainly over compensating for the fact she was dressed like a slut.
It was like a sausage fest in there at first.  All the male patrons were all dressed in the Westchester standard uniform of vertical striped blue and white collared shirts, light faded jeans and my personal fave......white puma sneakers.  PUKE!
The girls were either wearing clothes that were was too slutty or too dowdy.  I cringed every time I saw a a silky blouse with boot cut Seven jeans and six inch stilettos.
My boyfriend and I decided it was time to go when the DJ wearing a Yankee hat and white t-shirt decided to start setting up.
I can't understand how a city so close to NYC can be so far from it when it comes to fashion.

Is that still the look? It was the same back in the sixties! Some things never change. LOL!
