Alexander McQueen found dead

The British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead at the age of 40 in his London home.

Although there aren't any confirmed reports, it is said he committed suicide by way of hanging himself.

A spokeswoman for McQueen said: "Mr McQueen was found dead this morning at his home. We're devastated and I hope you understand that out of respect to his family and his colleagues we're not going to be making any further statement."

The death comes days before the start of London fashion week and a month before the designer was to unveil his new collection at Paris fashion week.

His company, Alexander McQueen, issued a statement saying: "On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family."

"Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."

Comments had been posted on McQueen's Twitter page, McQueenWorld, expressing his distress over the death of his mother on 2 February.

He wrote last week: "i'm letting my followers know the my mother passed away yesterday if it she had not me nor would you RIP mumx"

A minute later he added: "but life must go on!"

On Sunday McQueen wrote: "sunday evening been a f****** awful week but my friends have been great but now i have to some how pull myself together..."

McQueen was also distraught over the loss of the woman who discovered him, Isabella Blow who died in 2007 of suicide.

The world has truley lost a fashion great with the loss of McQueen.

To Shave or Not to Shave

Todays topic has drastically changed over the years for both men and women. What parts of the body should you shave/wax and what parts should be left alone. It being clearly a matter of opinion is totally up to the individual.

Lets begin with the basics and understanding the difference between shaving and waxing. Besides the obvious that shaving is virtually painless while waxing hurts like hell, there is a time line to each process for growth and upkeep. Shaving, like Pringles crisps once you "pop" you can't stop, has to be done daily to avoid awful prickly growth.

Waxing will leave you smooth for days or weeks but be warned that to continue waxing you must allow some growth before you head back to the salon. Depending on where the hair is you may or may not want any growth for risk of looking like a chia pet in it's early stages. What you wax or shave is again totally up to you.

Most men naturally have more hair than women. I don't mind hair or a man...i think it's attractive and natural. What I do mind are men who insist on shaving EVERYTHING. It just looks artificial...opt to trim instead. I also have found from personal experience that men who shave their chest, arms and back are lazy with the up keep. There is nothing more unattractive than rubbing up against a man sporting cactus growth.

Ladies one important thing we may or may not realize that can be done without is arm hair. I am a firm believer in completely getting rid of all arm hair. If you shave your legs, why not shave your arms. It just looks neat and smooth. There is nothing more unfeminine than overwhelming arm hair. But remember if you start shaving your arms, you must do it everyday. It's annoying but in my opinion so worth it.

Top 3 Holiday Party Attire DONT'S

It's that time again ladies and gents...holiday party time. Some people love it and others loathe it. It's a time where everyone gets dolled up and drinks far too much. It can be a time of excitement to strut your stuff in front of your fellow co-workers or horror of not knowing what's appropriate to wear. Either way there are three simple rules to live by when decking out in your most fabulous gear for a holiday party. You DO have to see these people in a professional manner on a daily basis so I don't care what anyone says...it DOES matter.

1. Never wear too much bling or shine.

Walk into any store and the first thing you see is some ridiculous holiday outfit sequined to death. It's like someone wants to shove a disco ball down everyones throats during the holidays. Yeah it's party time... I get it but I don't have to wear it. You want to walk into a room full of co-workers looking classy and not like a giant shiny bejeweled disaster.

2. Too much skin.

This one is not just for the ladies because there are plenty of men who are found rolling into a holiday party wearing that too tight t-shirt with their biceps bulging out. Save the showing off for the beach because it's completely inappropriate for a work fiesta AND not to mention the fact that it's winter time. Cover up!

3. Overdressing.
Holiday parties are often held at either a banquet hall, bar, night club or someones home so please dress accordingly. Don't over dress and wear a gown unless it's black tie. The true purpose of a holiday work party is to get everyone together and have a good time outside of work. So looking over dressed often leaves you alone in a corner drinking far too much wine and eating way too many carbs. It intimidates people and is a complete conversation killer.

The key to great holiday party attire is keeping it simple. Wear great slacks and a casual shirt with your sleeves rolled back gentlemen. Ladies feel sexy in a sweater dress, stockings and cute boots. Don't drink too much because the percentage rate of either saying something offensive or hitting on your co-worker crush doubles.

Winter Layering Tricks

What are the secrets to winter layering?
Lets look at it like a light and healthy salad with the main ingredient being proportion.
Proportion and placement of each piece is extremely important in any outfit but especially if you want to look artful during the cold winter months.

In the pictures above it gives perfect examples of proportion.
In the left you can see a short sweater layered over a long one which is a nice break to the horizontal stripes which we all know don't flatter women with a larger bust line.
The outfit on the right plays with proportion where the dress peeks out beneath the coat and also with the tall height of the boots. My golden rule in the winter is if you are going to wear a skirt who's hemline falls above the mid-thigh then you MUST wear a tall boot. Showing too much leg is a No-No even if you are wearing stockings.

I personally hold off on wearing a jacket or coat until the last possible minute. I would rather throw on an undershirt with a tight long sleeve thermal, short sleeve sweater, my poncho, gloves and an extra long scarf to wrap around and top off the entire look. I call it my gypsy look.
Layering looks best when whatever your wearing under your sweater or jacket playfully peeks through.

Another important final note is to eliminate matching color from your mind. The less you match the more creative the outfit looks. Of course beware of colors that clash or don't suit your skin tone. Often times they can make you look like a corpse instead of the glowing little saint we all know you are.
